“One of the most satisfying feelings I know – and also one of the most growth-promoting experiences for the other person – comes from my appreciating this individual in the same way that I appreciate a sunset. People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be.”

Carl Rogers, Way of Being

Counselling is an inherent ethical profession. We all have beliefs about what makes us human, how we relate and connect to others. It is our concept of humanity, our world view. Our basic values and beliefs are the foundation of our attitudes and actions. These are some of my values:

Appreciation of your values and beliefs.

Respect for your independence and autonomy.

I value difference and diversity, the unique person and experience of life.

You are the expert on your life.

Humans are social beings and have the capacity and potential for self-fulfilment, growth and change.

I aim to offer you a safe, confidential space where you will be listened to and heard without judgement.

I aim to build trust and work with you collaboratively. The therapy relationship is a collaboration.

I recognise that coming to counselling can feel scary, especially for the first time.
